Video tutorial — coming soon
Follow the written steps and screenshots below while the video is being prepared.
Before you begin
Keep the editable source document and work on a copy for export. Decide whether the PDF is for online reading, downloading or printing. These can require separate files; naming them clearly prevents accidental replacements.
Prepare the reading file
- Check the title page, chapter order, page numbers and contents before exporting. Remove comments and content that readers should not receive.
- Use the PDF export feature in your writing or layout application. A file renamed from .docx to .pdf is not a PDF conversion.
- Choose a font that includes all characters used in the book and permits embedding. Check the exported PDF rather than assuming the Word document proves the result.
- For Pashto and Dari, inspect connected letters, punctuation, numerals and line breaks on several pages.
Test before uploading
Open the PDF in a desktop reader and on a phone. Check the beginning, a middle chapter and the last pages. Try selecting a line of text where the source permits it; a scanned image-only book may not behave like a text-based PDF.
Confirm there is no opening password or damaged page. Compress oversized images carefully, but do not reduce quality until text becomes difficult to read.
Use the correct field
- Book File (PDF) is the downloadable book file.
- Online Reader PDF is used for online-exclusive reading.
- PDF for printing is a separate print request file.
The upload field currently shows a 100 MB PDF limit. Use the limit and file requirements actually displayed in the form if these are updated.
Check your result
Wait for the form to show the selected filename, then submit the listing. Review the resulting edition after approval. Uploading an online file does not mean a printed version has passed production validation.
For font inspection, use Export from Word and check embedded fonts.
If letters look wrong
Compare the exported PDF with the original document. Fix the source font or layout and export again; do not rely on a different viewer to hide the problem. If the PDF looks correct locally but not in Ketabona, report the affected pages and the device used.
Sample files
See Sample files for a clearly labelled reference set. Choose the file by its purpose, not simply by its PDF extension.
